Inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. The Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit of the Jambi Regional Police, and relevant agencies, conducted joint patrols in Tebo Regency to prevent wildfires and safeguard Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) habitats on Sunday (6/9/2026).

The joint patrol aimed to secure conservation boundaries, monitor habitat conditions, and mitigate fire risks that threaten protected wildlife ecosystems during the dry season.

"Patrols ensure conservation areas remain secure while protecting elephant habitats during heightened fire risk," said Jambi Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Erlan Munaji. "Wildfire prevention must safeguard both local communities and wildlife ecosystems."

He added that joint presence in conservation zones helps prevent human-wildlife conflicts and fosters community engagement in environmental protection. Police pledged continuous inter-agency collaboration to preserve regional biodiversity and prevent land burning, as reported by antaranews.com.
