Inp.polri.go.id – Halmahera. Helicopters rented by Weda Bay Nickel mining company was lost contact around Halmahera jungle on Tuesday (2/20/2024) around 13.16 pm. Based on the current information, the helicopter carries one passenger and two crews.
Communication Weda Bay Project, Bilal Sau says that Bell. 429 PK-WSW Helicopter owned by Helicity was lost contact with the Cekel Airport Air Traffic Control. The point of loss of contact it thought to be between Pinto and Pit Kaurahe.
“The helicopter used for the exploration was carrying three people, which are two crews and one passenger,” he said quoted from Antara on Wednesday (2/21/2024).
On the other hand, Halteng Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Faidil Zikri says that police members have been dispatch to IWIP company to discuss about search effort. The rescue also involved Ternate National SAR Agency.
“Now, with the management of WBN company, we have communicated with Ternate National SAR Agency to form a team to search the missing helicopter,” said Faidil.
Head of Ternate National SAR Agency, Fathur Rahman, adds that currently joint rescue team has been deployed to the location. They will coordinate with the representative of the company and related stake holders to pinpoint the location when the helicopter lost its contact.
