Joint security forces comprising the Damai Cartenz Task Force, Jayawijaya Sub-regional Police, Papua Regional Police Brimob, and the Indonesian Military (TNI) Habema Operations Command responded to the fatal ambush of a civilian transport driver along the Habema main road in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains.
The victim, identified as 41-year-old AS, was transporting basic commodities and nine passengers from Ilekma to Mbua when armed assailants intercepted the vehicle on Tuesday.
TNI units located the burned vehicle in a 13-meter ravine on Wednesday morning, discovering the driver's charred remains inside alongside a 5.56 mm shell casing. Joint teams conducted a crime scene investigation and evacuated the body to Wamena Regional Hospital.
