Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian Military Force, along with the Musi Banyuasin Regional Leadership Coordination Forum handles and acts against 296 illegal refineries in Babat Toman District. “In accordance to the instruction from the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, today we act against illegal refineries in Babat Toman District,” says the Special Criminal Investigation Director of South Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Bagus Suropratomo Oktobrianto quoted from elshinta on Saturday (2/3/2024). In restoring order at the district, the joint forces used a persuasive approach in communicating with the locals. “Around 260 joint personnel deployed to approach the locals to tell them to dispatch the illegal refineries,” said the police chief. The effort bears a result as 296 illegal refineries in the district have been able to be dismantled by their own owners. The success, says Bagus, was also thanks to all parties supporting the effort and also the locals who understood the importance of dismantling the refineries. Afterwards, Bagus implores the community to avoid illegal refineries as it would harm the environment. (ad/ek/pr/nm)
