Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) discussed three main points during his bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Melbourne, Australia. The meeting in further strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two was also to celebrate 65 years of good diplomatic relations. The first thing that they discussed is about the improvement of trade and investment cooperation through connectivity and infrastructure development, both in air and water sector. Regarding investment, Jokowi states that Indonesian state-owned enterprises are ready to give its contribution and become the core partners in train and infrastructure sector. “Moreover, we also need to push the interaction between business sector to strengthen our trade and investment,” said Jokowi in his official press statement on Tuesday (3/5/2024). Then, in resolving the issue of human trafficking, Jokowi gave his gratitude to Cambodia government in ensuring the security of Indonesians who have become the victim of the criminal action. Jokowi stressed that they need to bolster their cooperation in prevention effort and the law enforcement against human trafficking between the two states and the implementation of Memorandum of Understanding of Eradication of Transnational Crime in 2023. “The 2023 Memorandum of Understanding of Transnational Crime Eradication need to be implemented, particularly in intelligent information exchange and the improvement of our police capacity,” said Jokowi. Lastly, the two heads of state also discussed the cooperation in food sustainability, including rice import from Cambodia. Jokowi also pushed for the completion of Rice Trade Cooperation MoU renewal and the MoU on the Establishment of a Counter-Trade Mechanism to agree on the price and quantity of imported rice. “The implementation of Agriculture MoU also needs to be pushed, particularly in improving the capacity of managing agriculture, irrigation, and investment in rice processing and storage,” said Jokowi.
