President Joko Widodo released Government Regulations Number 23 of 2023 regarding the procedures for applying leave for ministers, governors, and mayors or regents for 2024 General Election. On the new regulation, those who runs for the election are required to apply for leave if they intend to campaign on work days. Furthermore, those who are eligible for applying the leave are those who runs for presidential and vice-presidential elections, members of politic parties, and campaign teams who have been registered at General Election Commission. In applying for leave for ministerial level, requests for leave permission are submitted to the president through the minister of state secretary. While for governor and vice governor, their leave permission is to be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs with a copy to the president. On the other hand, regents, vice regents, mayors, and vice mayors would apply their leave to the governor with a copy to the ministry of home affairs. The apply for leave is required to enlist the schedule and the duration of the campaign, along with the location and place of the campaign. Moreover, the apply should be sent 12 working days before the leave. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
