Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian men’s singles shuttler Jonatan “Jojo” Christie is targeting a higher world ranking after winning the Korea Open 2025 Super 500 title, where he currently sits at world No. 6 with 73,744 points.
“Recently I’ve fallen behind due to poor results. I want to collect as many points as possible in the rest of this year,” he said in a statement on Sunday (28/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The 28-year-old defeated Denmark’s Anders Antonsen 21-10, 15-21, 21-17 in Suwon, ending Indonesia’s dry spell in men’s singles after setbacks at the China Masters. Battling recurring injuries, Jonatan said the win was unexpected but reignited his confidence and motivation.
“This Super 500 title wasn’t something I imagined after struggling with injuries and long recoveries. But today it all paid off, thank God,” he added.
Jonatan credited mental composure in the decider as the key to overcoming the top seed and securing the victory before a packed Suwon Gymnasium.
