On Thursday (12/9/2024), Judge Ida Bagus Bamadewa Patiputra ruled that Sukena’s detention will be converted from jail to house arrest from 12 to 21 September 2024. under the condition that he reports to authorities twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The judge took into account Sukena’s responsibilities as the head of his household, supporting his family, as a key factor in the decision. The shift to house arrest was welcomed by Sukena and his local community.
The court had received several requests for house arrest from Sukena’s legal team, the Bongkasa Pertiwi Village administration, and House of Representatives (DPR) legislator Rieke Diah Pitaloka.
However, Judge Bamadewa emphasized that the authority to grant such requests lies solely with the court.
