Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Indonesian were affected by Super Typhoon Yagi, which struck Vietnam from 7 to 12 September September 2024.
Judha Nugraha, the Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection and Legal Aid at the Ministry, said on Thursday (12/9/2024) that the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi has coordinated with local authorities and the Indonesian community following the storm.
“As of now, there are no reports of Indonesian citizens being affected by Typhoon Yagi,” Judha said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
According to the embassy's records, there are 915 Indonesians residing in Vietnam, mostly in the southern region.
For emergencies, the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi (+84-70-523-1990) and the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City (+84-93-873-00-30) are available for contact, Judha added.
Super Typhoon Yagi is the most powerful storm to hit Vietnam in the past 30 years, causing widespread damage. The storm, with winds nearing 150 kilometers per hour, destroyed bridges, roofs, and factories, and triggered floods and landslides. As of 12 September 2024, as many as 199 people have died, 128 are missing, and 800 are injured due to the typhoon.
