KAI Jakarta Reports 51% Increase in Passengers Due to Long Holiday

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) overseeing Jakarta reported a 51% surge in passenger volume on Saturday (14/9/2024), compared to the previous week, due to the long holiday.

Ixfan Hendriwintoko, the KAI akarta’s Public Relations Manager, said that the total number of passengers from Jakarta reached 36,000 on Saturday, according to antaranews.com. 

Of these, 15,500 boarded from Pasar Senen Station, 12,300 from Gambir Station, and the remainder from other stations including Bekasi, Jatinegara, Cikarang, Karawang, Cikampek, and Jakarta Kota.

The increase is significant compared to the 23,724 passengers recorded on 7 September 2024. Despite the high passenger volume on Saturday, the peak travel day of the holiday period was actually Friday, with 36,107 passengers.

During the holiday period from 13 to 17 September 2024, a total of 124,000 tickets were sold, surpassing the 118,144 passengers from the previous week. Popular destinations include Yogyakarta, Malang, Solo, Blitar, Surabaya, and Semarang.

To accommodate the increased demand, KAI has added extra train services. New trains include KA 7002A Taksaka Tambahan, which departs from Gambir Station to Yogyakarta, and KA 80F Manahan, traveling from Stasiun Gambir to Solo Balapan.
