inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment says an accurate distribution of subsidized fuel oil can widen the fiscal space needed to improve fuel quality and cleanliness.

“The plan for the policy is ready and our fuel oil must be free from the high sulfur, but it will cost us highly. On the other hand, subsidized fuel oil price must be maintained, thus the most correct step in this is to fix the distribution of the fuel oil,” says the Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, Rachmat Kaimuddin on Friday (9/13/2024).

The government plans to limit the subsidized fuel oil for the four-wheeled vehicle with a large cylinder volume (cc). For motorbikes and cars with small cc, they can still get the subsidized fuel products, which are biosolar and pertalite.

"Only a few will be affected by this policy, under seven percent of vehicles. We are doing this to protect more than 93 percent of vehicles," said Deputy Rachmat.

He guarantees that the price of subsidized fuel will not go up and the supply will be maintained for people who need it. Deputy Rachmat dismissed the notion that this policy plan will suppress the middle class because restrictions will likely be based on the type of car engine.

"This policy plan instead has been designed in such a way to protect the middle class. The middle class will be protected because they can still access subsidized fuel with improved quality and low pollution," explained Deputy Rachmat.
