inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) recorded a surge in passengers during the school holidays. Occupancy for long-distance and local trains reached 126.33 percent.

During the school holiday period, from June 20 to July 13, 2025, trains served 4,922,733 passengers. This number exceeded the 3,896,691 seat capacity.

KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Anne Purba, in her evaluation, stated this was evidence of the trust of train passengers. "This surge reflects public confidence in train services," she said, as reported by RRI on Tuesday (7/15/2025).

The high occupancy was due to the dynamic flow of passengers boarding and disembarking at various stations. A single seat can be shared by several people.

On the other hand, a 30 percent discount on Economy Class Commercial train tickets is effective from June 5, 2025. As of July 14, 2,788,683 tickets out of 3,529,612 seats had been sold.

This program has been extended until July 31, 2025. People can take advantage of the discount for various travel needs.

"With more affordable ticket prices, people now have more freedom to travel across cities. Whether for vacation, work, or family, trains are a comfortable and safe choice," he explained.

"This discount program strengthens the role of trains as a mode of transportation enjoyed by all, not only in big cities but also in various areas that are centers of community activity," he continued.
