inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of the Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that his ministry will now immediately impose sanctions on tenants or companies renting industrial areas found to be contributing to air pollution in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek).

During an emissions test for trucks in North Jakarta, Minister Hanif stated that his party has conducted supervision in five of the 33 industrial areas in Greater Jakarta.

"However, it seems we will intensify this operation. As of today, we have only entered five of the 33 industrial areas in Greater Jakarta. We will not be wasting any more time," highlighted the Minister of the Environment on Tuesday (7/15/2025).

The Minister of the Environment stated that companies operating in the remaining 28 industrial areas that have not received supervision from the Ministry of Environment/BPLH could be subject to administrative sanctions if they are found to be failing to comply with environmental regulations and contributing to air pollution.

The administrative sanctions themselves include fines that contribute to non-tax state revenue, which will be used to improve environmental quality.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is also currently prosecuting 15 large and medium-sized steel smelting industries.

"We are currently in the middle of legal proceedings. So, criminal proceedings and closure of their operations are underway," said the Minister of Environment.

Previously, the Ministry of Environment announced that it had prepared 52 administrative sanctions to be imposed on tenants in several industrial areas, all of which were imposed for contributing to the decline in air quality in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek).
