Marking the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebrations, the Indonesian National Police Chief (Kapolri) Cup Badminton Championship 2026 was officially inaugurated at the Jakarta State University (UNJ) Sports Hall on Monday (27/7/2026), carrying the theme "Building Achievement for the Nation."
Organizing Committee Chairman Inspector General Mardiyono said that the tournament will run from July 27 to August 1, 2026, across UNJ Sports Hall, Duren Sawit Sports Hall, and Pondok Bambu District Sports Hall.
"The Kapolri Cup Badminton Championship 2026 is not merely a competition, but a venue to foster sportsmanship, togetherness, and synergy between Polri, the public, and various stakeholders," he said.
The 2026 edition features a total of 1,219 athletes, comprising 591 participants in the general category (U-15, U-17, U-19), 558 in the internal INP category, and 70 in the para-badminton category. Held in official collaboration with the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) and the National Para Committee Indonesia (NPCI), the tournament serves as an officially sanctioned event on PBSI's 2026 calendar for national athlete scouting.
Secretary General of PBSI Ricky Soebagdja praised the INP’s commitment to supporting national badminton development, noting that elite talent scouts will monitor potential candidates for national selection and training camps.
