"In total, 30 reports regarding Karhutla are currently being processed, including 19 formal police reports involving three corporate entities and 16 individuals," Ketapang Police Chief Superintendent Putra Pratama announced the ongoing enforcement on Tuesday (29/9/2026).

Despite recent rain suppressing several fires, 56 medium-category hotspots remain active in sub-districts such as Kendawangan, Air Upas, and North Matan Hilir due to uneven precipitation.

Joint forces are tackling accessible fires by ground. Meanwhile, aerial water-bombing helicopters and weather modification operations are targeting remote areas. Police urged residents to refrain from clearing land using fire to prevent severe smoke pollution.
