Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. An armed criminal group (KKB) shot and killed a local resident, Jamaludin, in Pagaleme, Puncak Jaya, Central Papua, on Monday evening.
Puncak Jaya Police Sub-regional Chief Superintendent Kuswara said on Tuesday (22/10/2024) that the incident occurred around 6.50 pm. local time.
He confirmed that Jamaludin, a kiosk owner, was shot dead, though the group responsible has not yet been identified, according to antaranews.com.
The victim's nephew, Noval, reported the shooting to the police. He explained that two suspicious individuals were seen near the kiosk before the attack. Despite being warned, Jamaludin did not close his kiosk. As Noval bent down to count money, gunshots rang out, killing Jamaludin instantly.
Police called on local residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to prevent further violence.
Chief Kuswara also advised the public to stay calm and avoid being swayed by false rumors that could destabilize the region’s security situation.
