Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. An armed criminal group (KKB) or its sympathizers allegedly opened fire at a shop complex in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua, on Tuesday night, the Damai Cartenz Task Force confirmed on Thursday (30/10/2025).

“There were no casualties in the incident, and we have yet to confirm which group was behind the shooting,” said Damai Cartenz Task Force Chief Brigadier General Faizal Ramadani on Thursday, as reported by antaranews.com

The incident occurred around 7.20 pm local time at Basta Cell, where two employees heard a loud bang before a man appeared with a long-barreled weapon and aimed it at the store. The suspect later fled toward the back of the building.

Joint personnel from Damai Cartenz Task Force, Yahukimo Sub-regional Police, and Mobile Brigade (Brimob)  immediately conducted patrols and searches in the area.

“Damai Cartenz Task Force will not tolerate any attempt to disturb public order. We are strengthening patrols and presence in vulnerable areas,” Chief Faizal asserted.
