The Armed Criminal Group in Papua, identified as members of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) Ngalum Kupel command, have once again burned down a school building in Sopamikma Village, Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency, on Monday morning (13/10/2025).

“The KKB burned the SMP Kiwirok junior high school building. They had previously set fire to the same location last Tuesday,” said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Commander of Damai Cartenz Task Force, as quoted by antaranews.com.

He explained that SMP Kiwirok has not been used for teaching since 2021, forcing students to continue their studies in Oksibil, the regency capital. During the incident, security forces engaged in a brief firefight before the attackers fled toward Kotobib Village.

“The military and police will continue preventive and law enforcement measures to protect residents and secure Kiwirok,” Commander Faizal emphasized, adding that patrols have been tightened to prevent further violence.
