Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) says have working in unison and integrated with regional government in overcoming fires in several final waste disposal site (TPA). “Manggala Agni who was working in forestry and its surrounding area have been ordered to work in unison and integrated with teams in Regional Agency for Disaster Countermeasures (BNPB) and to work professionally,” says Secretary General KLHK Bambang Hendroyono in Jakarta on Tuesday (10/31/2023). He says that Manggala Agni team is working on extinguishing the fire in Rawa Kucing TPA, Banten. KLHK stressed that Manggala Agni is still in contact will all related stakeholders in effort to accelerate the fire extinguishing. Moreover, Bambang implores regional government to shift Open Dumping TPA management to be a sanitary landfill in effort to overcome fires in the landfill. “From a policy perspective, all stakeholders involved need to be aware and learn from the experience. Integrity in implementing the provisions needs to be strengthened," said Bambang. BNPB states 14 fire incident in landfills have happened since June 2023. In overcoming the incident, BNPB have deployed water bombing unit and using weather modification technology for artificial rain. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
