inp.polri.go.id – The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is preparing a traffic strategy to prevent congestion during Homecoming Eid 2022. The contraflow, one-way and odd-even schemes have been prepared by the police. The Head of Korlantas (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Drs. Firman Santyabudi, M.Sc., stated that the strategies are for the Lebaran homecoming this year. "We are taking intervention steps, thus road capacity management is necessary, which is the simplest way is by adding one lane in the contraflow. If it's not enough, we will take a one-way plan for people from Jakarta to the east (Central Java)," said Kakorlatas at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (13/4/2022). Kakorlantas conveyed that the implementation of one-way would be enforced if contraflow did not work effectively. In addition to one-way, odd-even policies will also be implemented for the ease of people’s homecoming. "The one-way and odd-even policies will be implemented at the same time in the homecoming period," said Kakorlantas. Kakorlantas said that one-way would be started from Thursday, April 28, or on the last day people go to work. This is because the government has set April 29 as Eid leave. The one-way will be implemented for 3 days, 28-30 April. Kakorlantas urges the public to make sure the number on the plate of the vehicle is used for going home. "From the number of vehicles that are predicted in doing homecoming, the odd-even policies seem to be necessary. We have to do this again and we will inform the public so that they can prepare themselves by checking the plate number of the vehicle they will use," he explained. Kakorlantas added, that there will be officers around the toll gate who will guide the people. "We also ask the public to pay attention to the one-way schedule. Later, there will be officers in the field to guide," said the Head of Traffic Police. On this occasion, Kakorlantas also signed a Joint Decree with the Director-General of Land Transportation and the Director-General of Bina Marga. According to Firman, the policy was based on the calculations by experts. "Because from the results, if the road has to handle 200 thousand vehicles in normally, then the traffic jams are unavoidable. Thus we apply this policy," he said.
