Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) has issued a formal written warning to iNews TV following inappropriate language used during its "Rakyat Bersuara" program.
The sanction stems from a 10 March 2026 broadcast featuring commentator Permadi Arya, popularly known as Abu Janda, whose remarks were deemed a violation of public decency standards. KPI officials considered that televised debates should prioritize intellectual insight and proper decorum, reminding broadcasters to carefully vet the behavior and language of their guest speakers.
"Selection of speakers must consider their scientific capacity, behavior, and language suitable for the public sphere," said KPI Chairman Ubaidillah on Monday (16/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Following a clarification hearing with iNews Chief Editor Aiman Witjaksono, the commission ruled that the program violated several articles of the 2012 Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Program Standards (P3SPS). The breach specifically concerned the failure to maintain ethical norms within a "Teen" (R) classified program. In addition to the warning, copies of the decision were forwarded to Parliament and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs for further review.
