Former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery at the Agriculture Ministry, Muhammad Hatta have been detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in connection with a corruption case that allegedly occurred during their time in office.
The KPK's Deputy Chairperson, Alexander Marwata, announced on Friday (13/10/2023) that both Limpo and Hatta would be held for 20 working days each for further investigation. They will be detained at the KPK Detention Center until November 1, 2023, antaranews.com reported.
Former minister Limpo was arrested in an apartment in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on October 12. He arrived at the KPK Building in handcuffs under the tight guard of police officers armed with long-barreled firearms.
In addition to Limpo and Hatta, KPK has also detained former Agriculture Ministry Secretary General Kasdi Subagyono.
Limpo officially resigned from his position as agriculture minister on October 5, following the emergence of the alleged corruption case.
