KPK Detains 15 Employees in Extortion Case

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained and charged 15 of its employees in an extortion case at the KPK Detention Center. "For investigative purposes, the team has detained these suspects for the initial 20 days, from 15 March to 3 April 2024, at the Jakarta Police Detention Center," said Asep Guntur Rahayu, the KPK's Director of Investigation,  on Friday (15/3/2024).. The suspects include Achmad Fauzi, the current Head of the KPK Detention Center, as well as former officers Hengki and Deden Rochendi, Ristanta, Ari Rahman Hakim, Agung Nugroho, Eri Angga Permana, Muhammad Ridwan, and Suharlan. In addition, five other officers involved are Suharlan, Ramadhan Ubaidillah, Mahdi Aris, Wardoyo, Muhammad Abduh, and Ricky Rachmawanto. "Hengki and his associates provided exclusive facilities such as accelerated isolation, phone and power bank services, and inspection information," explained Asep, as reported by antaranews.com The fees for these services ranged from IDR 300,000 to IDR 20 million, paid either in cash or through designated bank accounts. The suspects received varying sums based on their roles, from IDR 500,000 to IDR 10 million monthly. During operations, they used terms like "flood" for inspection info, "birdcage" and "corn feed" for financial transactions, and "bottle" for phones and cash. Between 2019 and 2023, the suspects received approximately IDR 6.3 billion. Further investigation will trace the money flow. The suspects face charges under Article 12 letter e of Law Number 31 of 1999 on Corruption Eradication, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, along with Article 55 paragraph (1) clause 1 of the Criminal Code.
