Inp.polri.go.id – Kupang. Kupang Sub-regional Police have secured the 12 prospective illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who were about to be sent to Malaysia. Led by Kupang Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, First Police Inspector Elpidus Kono Feka, the operation has thwarted the sending of 12 illegal PMIs from Oesao, Kupang Regency to Malaysia.
“They were about to be sent to Malaysia this morning. Currently, we are investigating the identities and the documents we found,” said Elpidus on Tuesday (4/2/2024).
From the 12 PMIs secured, nine were men and three others were women. They did not have the complete document and were about to be sent to Malaysia by KM. Bukit Siguntang through Nunukan-Kalimantan.
Report states that they were allegedly recruited by a person from East Kupang with the initials of AM (35). Currently AM has been apprehended and is being interrogated by the police.
The prevention demonstrates concrete effort of police in preventing human trafficking and protecting the community from exploits and other risks that might appear.
