Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government has flown aid for civilians affected by conflicts in Palestine and Sudan using a Garuda Indonesia aircraft front Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Wednesday morning (3/4/2024).
The humanitarian aid mission valued at a total of $1 million USD, according to antaranews.com.
Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto estimated that the entire delegation would arrive in Cairo and Port of Sudan on Thursday to deliver humanitarian aid and engage in several meetings with relevant authorities in Egypt and Sudan.
The aid was the response of the government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the diplomatic notes from Egypt and Sudan requesting humanitarian assistance for the communities facing conflicts and disease outbreaks there.
In the notes, the Egyptian government requested assistance from the Indonesian Government for handling Palestinian refugee arrivals in Egypt, around Rafah, Egypt, due to Israel's invasion of Gaza, Palestine.
As of March 2024, the casualties of the Israeli invasion in Gaza amounted to 32,333 fatalities, including 12,900 children, 74,694 injuries, and 8,100 missing persons.
