The Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of the East Kalimantan Police (Polda Kaltim), Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., said that the team will certainly come on Tuesday (17/5/22), and immediately investigate the cause of the fire that killed one worker and injured five other workers. In addition, Polda Kaltim and Pertamina also formed a joint team to carry out internal investigations related to the fire. "The Labfor team from the National Police Headquarters came today. We also formed an internal joint team with Pertamina to conduct an investigation," explained Kabid Humas Polda Kaltim, Tuesday (17/5/22). In addition to doing a series of investigation, he also revealed that after the fire incident, his party immediately examined the witnesses. "Yesterday, we immediately examined the witnesses, including the field manager, and asks about the technical situation when the fire occurred," said Kabid Humas Polda Kaltim. However, his party has not been able to reveal further details of witnesses examination and the results of the initial investigation, because an in-depth investigation is still being carried out. "As for the allegation, we can't tell you yet. That's for later, because the results of the investigation are for our report material," adds Kabid Humas Polda Kaltim. The fire is thought to have started at plant 5, the Hydro Skimming Complex Unit. Plant 5 produces gasoline as raw material. From this incident, it is known that 5 people are injured, and one died. Three suffered burns and are undergoing treatment at Pertamina Hospital in Balikpapan, while the other two, suffered minor injuries due to exposure to the fire and they had received treatment at a local clinic.
