Inp.polri.go.id - West Sumatera. The West Sumatra-Riau road access has been severed due to landslides in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, with as many as 30 landslide points rendering the route impassable.
"There are 30 landslide points that have rendered the road impassable for vehicles," said Police Superintendent Ricardo Condrat Yusuf, Chief of Lima Puluh Kota Sub-Regional Police, on Tuesday (26/12/2023).
He attributed the landslides to heavy rainfall since Monday night, leading the police to divert traffic from West Sumatra to Riau via Kiliran Jao, Sijunjung.
"We advise residents using the West Sumatra-Riau route via Lima Puluh Kota to take the alternative route via Sijunjung," he said.
Currently, the West Sumatra National Road Implementing Agency (BPJN), Regional Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD), Indonesian Military, Police, and the local community are collaborating to clear debris and reopen the blocked road, he concluded.
