Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. Head of Indonesia's National Legal Development Agency (BPHN), Widodo Ekatjahjana, has launched initiatives to improve legal awareness in 56 villages in East Nusa Tenggara Province as an effort to fight against against human trafficking (TPPO) in rural areas.
The initiatives, locally known as desa sadar hukum, covered 56 villages strategically located across 15 districts spanning three regencies/cities, including Kupang City, Rote Ndao Regency, and West Sumba Regency within East Nusa Tenggara Province.
"The village government, together with the community, must work together to address the rampant TPPO cases in East Nusa Tenggara through good cooperation," he said on Saturday (23/9/2023) as reported by antaranews.com
Widodo stressed the significance of developing legal awareness at the family level, expecting these villages to promote understanding within families and local administration about TPPO prevention.
The collaboration aimed at stopping Indonesian migrant workers from East Nusa Tenggara returning in dire conditions due to TPPO, he added. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
