The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Satake Bayu Setianto, confirmed the fatal traffic accident incident in Bawen, which was suspected to have been caused by the truck's brakes not functioning properly while descending a hill. "The truck with license plate AD 8911 IA was traveling from the North to the South," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying. When it reached the Bawen Toll Exit intersection, the truck's brakes were suspected to have failed, causing it to collide with several vehicles that were stopped at the traffic light. At least four cars and nine motorcycles were hit by the truck traveling downhill, the spokesperson said. Police officers have evacuated the victims and vehicles involved in the accident.
