Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Following the death of suspended Papua Governor, Lukas Enembe, Papuan traditional leader Yanto Eluay called on the community to maintain public order and security in Jayapura during the ongoing Christmas celebrations.
"We are making this appeal to prevent unwanted incidents when the remains of Mr Lukas Enembe arrive at Sentani Airport and are paraded by his family," he said on Tuesday (26/12/2023).
Eluay said that harmony and peace must be maintained in Jayapura, a home for people from different ethnic groups in Indonesia.
"Peace and joy of the birth of Christ is something we should be thankful for and reflect on for the future during this Christmas season. Peace must be maintained here," he said.
Eluay explained that the indigenous people of Jayapura regency uphold values of tolerance, brotherhood, peace and love.
"Anyone who comes and lives in Jayapura Regency must respect the noble values of the indigenous people here by maintaining peace, especially during this Christmas season," he said.
Eluay added that life and death are determined by God and people should be patient and sincere in the face of the fate determined by the Almighty.
"No one should think that life and death are determined by other people; that is wrong. Every living being will die in its own way, as determined by God," he said.
