inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Malaysian government respects the legal process being carried out by the Indonesian government against a Malaysian pilot arrested on suspicion of smuggling 25 kilograms of narcotics.

In a statement received in Jakarta on Friday (7/31/2026), the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta stated that it had received information regarding the detention of a Malaysian citizen from the Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP).

"The embassy respects the Indonesian legal process and is currently working with the Indonesian authorities," the statement said.

The Malaysian Embassy is also working to provide consular access to the arrested Malaysian.

The Drugs Criminal Investigation Director, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, says that a pilot with the initials of MSBO (39) was arrested on Tuesday (7/28/2026).

The arrest was made after Customs officers at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, became suspicious of a suitcase belonging to MSBO.

After searching the suitcase, officers found 14 large packages of ecstasy pills and one package of methamphetamine.

"The total amount of ecstasy pills seized was 70,114 pills with a net weight of 25,194.83 grams," said Eko.

From the joint team's interrogation, it was discovered that MSBO received a fee of 50,000 ringgit (approximately IDR 220 million) from an individual suspected of being in Malaysia to transport the drugs.

The case has now advanced to the investigation stage, and the MSBO suspect is being held at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) detention center.

For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 113 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
