Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Manpower Yassierli has called for inclusive hiring practices and the removal of age-based restrictions in recruitment to ensure equal employment opportunities for all.
“We want no discrimination. We want every job opportunity to be open to everyone,” he said after attending a forum on online motorcycle taxi workers in Jakarta on Thursday (8/5/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The minister said her office would review regulations that pose age-related barriers to employment.
His comments was a response to a circular issued by East Java’s administration banning age discrimination in job listings. The policy, backed by Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, encourages companies to adopt competence-based recruitment and extends equal access to people with disabilities.
The policy is in accordance with the Labor Law No. 13/2003 and the ILO Convention No. 111 on discrimination in employment, ensuring fair treatment for all workers regardless of age.
