inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) will not replace job liaisons in job placement services.
The Director General of Manpower Placement and Expansion of Employment Opportunities (Binapenta and PKK) at the Ministry of Manpower, Sugeng Heri Suseno, believes that the role of humans remains fundamental, especially in assistance that requires emotional consideration and information verification to ensure services remain inclusive.
"Technology is here to strengthen the role of job liaisons, not replace it," Sugeng said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday (11/5/2026).
A job liaison is a person tasked with providing job placement services and connecting job seekers and employers.
Furthermore, Sugeng emphasized the importance of adopting AI to support the efficiency of employment services. He stated that AI functions to accelerate, improve accuracy, and expand the reach of job placement services.
However, he stated that transformation in the AI era is not simply about the ability to use technology, but rather a shift in work culture to become more proactive, data-driven, collaborative, and results-oriented.
"Therefore, strengthening the role of job liaisons in the SIAPkerja ecosystem is crucial, from analyzing labor market information to formulating data-driven policies," said Sugeng.
To support this change, the Ministry of Manpower has established five pillars of support for job liaisons from work unit leaders.
First, competency development, which includes AI training, data literacy, labor market analysis, career counseling, and the use of digital platforms.
"Second, strengthening facilities and data access by providing work tools and integrated information systems according to authority," he said.
Furthermore, assignments are based on competency, providing space for job liaisons to carry out substantive functions and minimizing administrative work.
"Fourth, institutional and budgetary support to facilitate company visits, vacancy data collection, counseling, and placement," said Sugeng.
The fifth pillar is collaboration and performance evaluation through strengthening cross-unit coordination and partnerships with the business and industrial world.
In addition, Sugeng also appealed to high-ranking and middle-ranking officials within the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) to involve and place job placement agents according to their capacity, and to include the Indonesian Job Placement Association (Ikaperjasi) in technical meetings and the drafting of employment regulations.
