Inp.polri.go.id - Medan.  The North Sumatra Regional Police has announced that the Medan-Berastagi road, particularly the route from Sembahe to the Tirtanadi intersection, has been cleared and is now safe for public use after recent landslides.

Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi, the North Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations, confirmed on Saturday (30/11/2024) that while the road has been partially cleared, it remains closed for safety until all debris, including soil, rocks, and mud, is completely removed.

Authorities are maintaining a sterile work zone to protect both the public and cleanup crews, according to antaranews.com.

The police acknowledged concerns from bus drivers who rely on the route daily. The North Sumatra Police has been collaborating with relevant agencies to expedite the cleanup, hoping favorable weather will allow for the road to be fully reopened soon.

Earlier, a joint search and rescue team recovered a victim, identified as Riski (31), who was found 15 kilometers from the landslide site. The disaster occurred on 26 November 2024 along the Jamin Ginting road in Sibolangit, Deli Serdang.
