Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno said, Gampong Ulee Lheue Tourism Village has high tourism potential and creative economy that can be a strong attraction for tourists to visit. "I would like to congratulate the Gampong Ulee Lheue Tourism Village which has become top 50 of the best tourist villages in the 2022 Indonesian Tourism Village Award with complete tourism potential and their creative economy. They have natural and cultural tourism, and have one of the most important historical value, "explained Menparekraf. The historical tour is related to the tsunami disaster that occurred in December 2004. Ulee Lheue Village Tourism Village, which is located in the coastal area, is one of the areas most affected by the disaster. But in the midst of that horrible disaster, there is the Baiturrahim Mosque which still stands firmly. This mosque is the only building that left standing during the earthquake and tsunami, while other buildings around the mosque were destroyed. The mosque, which is a relic of the Sultan of Aceh from the 17th century has also been designated as a cultural heritage building. In this mosque area there is also a tsunami gallery which displays photos of the condition of the mosque and its surroundings during the earthquake and tsunami. In addition to being a gallery, the community also uses it as the centre for MSMEs in the tourist village of Gampong Ulee Lheue. Still related to the history of the tsunami disaster, in the Ulee Lheue Village Tourism Village there is also a mass grave for the victims of the 2004 Aceh earthquake and tsunami. In addition to historical tourism, Gampong Ulee Lheue Tourism Village is also rich its nature and cultural aspect. One of them is Mirror Beach. In this tourist village, tourists can also enjoy various artistic and cultural treats. Such as Ranup Lampuan Dance, Rapa'i Geleng Dance, also Tarek Pukat. Tarek Pukat is a tradition of catching fish using long nets up to hundreds of meters that are pulled by boat from land to sea. Menparekraf Sandiaga also had the opportunity to try this fish-catching method during his visit to the Ulee Lheue Village Tourism Village. "Ulee Lheue Gampong Tourism Village has succeeded in combining history-based tourism and its nature and culture-based tourism. I hope that we can work together to make Gampong Ulee Lheue a leading attraction," explained Menparekraf Sandiaga. Menparekraf Sandiaga also ensured that his institution would continue to provide assistance and facilitation for Gampong Ulee Lheue Tourism Village to continue to develop.
