Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate impounded a Toyota Avanza Veloz on Tuesday (24/2/2026) for displaying counterfeit Russian Federation diplomatic plates along the Inner City Toll Road in South Jakarta. 

Officers intercepted the vehicle at 8.15 am following a formal report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding unauthorized use of diplomatic identifiers.

“We took enforcement action against the vehicle for using diplomatic registration CD 37 04, which was found to be inconsistent with its official designation,” explained Superintendent Ojo Ruslani, the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate’s Head of Law Enforcement, as cited by antaranews.com.

Investigations revealed the specific plate number was registered to a BMW under the Russian Embassy, while a second reported number, CD 37 436, was entirely fraudulent. 

The driver now faces charges under Article 280 of the Traffic Law, carrying a potential two-month prison sentence or a fine of Rp500,000. The case has been transferred to the General Criminal Investigation Directorate to probe the forgery origins.
