Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police confirmed on Monday (23/2/2026) that Brigadier Fajar Permana, an officer of the Traffic Directorate, passed away due to extreme physical exhaustion and respiratory complications following his intensive deployment for the 2026 Eid homecoming security operations.
"He was strongly suspected of suffering from extraordinary physical exhaustion and respiratory distress after tireless service at public posts," said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Budi Hermanto, as reported by antaranews.com.
Brigadier Fajar’s health reportedly declined sharply after working marathon shifts to manage the massive surge of travelers during Operation Ketupat 2026. In response to this tragedy, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri has ordered the Metro Jaya Police’s Medical and Health Unit to conduct routine health screenings for all personnel still stationed at security checkpoints.
The regional police command pledged full honors and support for the fallen officer's family while emphasizing that the physical welfare of field officers remains a top priority during the upcoming peak return flow.
