inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Aceh Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ruddi Setiawan expressed his condolences over the death of a member of the Indonesian Army (POM TNI AD) while assisting police in intercepting a drug dealer in Bireuen Regency.
Head of Aceh Regional Police Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Joko Krisdiyanto, stated that the incident occurred in front of the Juli gas station in Cot Meurak Village, Bireuen Regency, on Saturday (7/25/2026).
"This incident is a sorrow for all of us. We offer our condolences for the death of POM TNI AD member Private Galuh Nugraha while assisting police in intercepting a drug dealer in front of the Juli gas station," he said in Bireuen on Sunday.
Joko said that the deceased Private Galuh Nugraha demonstrated extraordinary law enforcement instincts in assisting police in the arrest of the drug dealer.
He explained that the incident began with an operation to arrest four suspected drug dealers in a car.
As a result of the raid operation, one person suspected of being a member of the Mobile Brigade Corps was apprehended. Meanwhile, the three other suspected perpetrators fled and are still being pursued by officers.
During the pursuit, Joko Krisdiyanto said, officers fired shots at the perpetrators. A ricocheting bullet hit a bystander who was assisting in the arrest.
"The victim was then evacuated to the hospital. He was later identified as a member of the Indonesian Army. The Aceh Police Chief has been coordinating intensively with the IM Military Commander and his staff," he said.
He said that since the incident, this coordination has been carried out to convey initial facts to ensure proper treatment for the victims, support the investigation, and maintain communication and solidarity between the two institutions.
"On behalf of the Aceh Regional Police family and all its ranks, we once again express our deepest condolences to the family of the late Private Galuh Nugraha, as well as to all ranks of the TNI," he said.
Joko Krisdiyanto appealed to the public to remain calm, not to be easily provoked, and not to spread information, photos, videos, or narratives whose veracity cannot be confirmed.
