The Communication and Information Minister Budi Arie Setiadi stressed that his party has gone full force in combatting online gambling as it grows concerning. “I stressed and strongly instruct task forces to give their best and took extraordinary measures to combat online gambling,” says the Minister on Thursday (1/11/2024). Minister Budi explains that one of the strong measures taken by the minister is the significant increase in blocking the online gambling. Across July to December 2023, the Ministry have took down 810,785 of online gambling sites. Moreover, the ministry have also blocked 4,164 accounts and 540 digital wallet linked to online gambling across the second semester of 2023. “Strong reprimand bears positive result with the blocking of 1,65 millions of online gambling sites and 450,000 online gambling ads by Meta since August to October 2023,” says the Minister in his closing statement.
