"The serious efforts of the government in the current cabinet must be conveyed to the entire community. There is a standing point for the government's position in handling basic environmental issues that have not been resolved, one of which is waste," said the Minister of Environment, Friday (4/18/2025).

For waste in Putri Cempo, he said, the solution is to convert waste into electrical energy.

"Previously there was Presidential Regulation Number 35 of 2018. Then in its implementation, only two who were running (in Solo and Surabaya). We are trying to operate another in Palembang,” says Hanif.

In the regulation signed on April 12, 2018, one of the points mandates several regional governments, namely Jakarta, Tangerang, South Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, Semarang, Surakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Denpasar, Palembang and Manado to accelerate the construction of waste processing installations into electrical energy.

He also asked the Mayor of Surakarta, Respati Ardi, to convey the main problems regarding Putri Cempo so that the central government can immediately make a policy.

“It is not easy to operate it, there are gaps in operational and electric bills payment. We and all the others want for this waste issue to be quickly resolved,” concludes Hanif.
