Inp.polri.go.id – Sorong. Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has urged local administrations in Papua to improve its human resource development. "Quality human resources are believed to be able to manage various resources well, including those owned by the regions in Papua. The effort can also support the growth of the private sector in its respective regions," the minister said in a statement during a coordination meeting with the  administration heads in Papua on Friday (3/1/23). He said that heads of local administrations have a crucial role in managing budget. Therefore, they must manage their respective administration's budget, including by using it to improve human resource capacity through education and health programs. "Please, focus on the education of our children in the future. They must continue to attend formal (education). Do offer informal education that sticks true to local potentials," the minister added. Providing an example, he said that if an area in Papua is known for its plantation, the local administration can develop it further by developing plantation training centers. The same thing is applicable to other regional potentials such as animal husbandry, mining, and fisheries as an effort to manage various resources properly. Through education, the community can establish businesses and employ other people along the way.  In addition, the business sector is an important aspect of pursuing economic growth at the regional level that needs to be supported through ease of doing business, both for domestic investment and foreign investment, including for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
