Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno confirmed plans to discuss the proposal to abolish the school zoning system with Minister of Education and Culture Abdul Mu'ti.

"We haven't discussed this yet, but I will confirm it with Minister Mu'ti," Pratikno said after a Ministerial Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on Friday (22/11/2024), referring to the Minister of Education

The proposal to eliminate the zoning system was put forward by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who urged the Minister of Education to remove it during a recent meeting. 

Minister Pratikno acknowledged the proposal and confirmed that the Ministry of Education is reviewing it. 

"We are aware of it, and it's under review by the Minister of Education," he added, as reported by antaranews.com.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives' Commission X emphasized the importance of consulting with all stakeholders. 

"We must hear from the public, experts, and relevant parties to ensure any changes benefit the education system," said Commission Chair Hetifah Sjaifudian.

Zoning was introduced to improve education access and reduce inequality, but implementation challenges persist.
