Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister Sugiono of Foreign Affairs reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to securing a ceasefire and protecting civilians in Gaza during high-level meetings at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. 

"Our brothers and sisters in Palestine can no longer wait to experience a just and dignified peace," Minister Sugiono said, according to a press release received Friday (20/1/2026).

On Wednesday, he held separate bilateral talks with the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, and Jordan to coordinate international pressure against the forced displacement of Palestinians. He said that any peace mechanism must strictly adhere to international law and the two-state solution.

The discussions focused on Indonesia’s strategic participation in the Board of Peace (BoP) and the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to ensure Palestinian rights remain central to global negotiations. 

Minister Sugiono also met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Palestinian Permanent Observer Riyad Mansour to reinforce Indonesia's role as a reliable mediator. By engaging in these multilateral frameworks, Indonesia aims to ensure that regional stability is maintained in accordance with the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.
