inp.polri.go.id - Bangka Belitung. The Bangka Belitung Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate has uncovered the misuse of subsidized 3-kilogram (kg) Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, which were transferred to non-subsidized 12-kg LPG cylinders in Central Bangka Regency.
Acting Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Police Senior Inspector A.F. Pulungan, stated that the case began when the team conducted an investigation and discovered suspicious activity at an LPG depot in Pintu Air Village, Rangkui District, Pangkalpinang.
During the investigation, the team apprehended four individuals while unloading empty 3-kg LPG cylinders, which were suspected to have just been transferred to non-subsidized LPG cylinders.
"From the depot in Pangkalpinang, we proceeded to investigate and finally reached the main location of the adulteration in Jelutung Village, Namang District, Central Bangka," he said, Friday (4/17/2026).
Pulungan revealed that at the main location, his team found dozens of 12-kg LPG cylinders and various equipment used for the illegal activity.
He also added that this illegal practice had been going on for approximately six months, starting in November 2025.
"It's been approximately six months. In one production run, the perpetrators were able to produce 40 12-kg LPG cylinders and carried out this activity three to four times a week, resulting in an estimated state loss of approximately IDR 345,600,000," he concluded.
