inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Floods and landslides have occurred in the Sembahe area, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. A victim is believed to have been buried in this incident and the search is underway.
"Sembahe has experienced a landslide," reported the Commander of the Mobile Brigade Unit of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Rantau Isnur Eka, Wednesday (4/8/2026).
The floods and landslides were caused by heavy rain in the area since Tuesday (4/7/2026) evening. Mobile Brigade Unit, along with teams from the Search and Rescue Agency (SAR) and the Indonesian Military (TNI), have been at the location to assist in the search and evacuation of victims.
"In this we, the authorities, and the community have been searching for buried victims and conducting evacuations since last night," he said.
Rantau has not yet provided details on the number of casualties resulting from this incident. In addition to searching for victims, the deployed team is also helping clean the homes of residents affected by the disaster.
"We are also helping the community clean their homes and other things," he explained.
