Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Erupts, Public Advised to Follow Authorities Instructions

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted again on Tuesday (17/6/2025).

Head of Public Relations of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra appealed to the public to beware and continue to follow government directions.

He explained that the status of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has been raised to Level IV or Alert. The public is asked not to carry out activities within a radius of 7 kilometers and a sector of 8 kilometers from the center of the eruption.

As part of anticipatory measures, the NTT Regional Police have taken a number of steps, such as closing road access from Maumere to Larantuka through coordination between the East Flores Sub-regional Police and the Sikka Sub-regional Police.

Then, increasing patrols and socialization by Wulanggitang Sub-regional Police personnel of the dangers of eruptions and the importance of wearing masks.

And lastly is through securing and closing traffic lanes in the affected areas by the East Flores Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit.

"We ensure that our personnel are present in the field to provide education, security, and ensure public safety," said Henry Novika.
