Mount Semeru Eruption Does Not Affect Voting Activities

Inp.polri.go.id - Lumajang. The eruption of Mount Semeru on Wednesday (14/2/2024) did not disrupt voting activities in several polling stations situated near the mountain's slopes in Java.
According to Wawan Hadi S., the Head of the Prevention of Preparedness and Logistics Division (BPBD) in Lumajang, there was no significant impact on residents' activities despite the eruption.
Mount Semeru erupted three times on February 14, 2024, at 7:00 AM, 2:56 PM, and 3:40 PM, as reported by antaranews.com.
Observations from the Mount Semeru Monitoring Post at 7:00 AM reported volcanic ash reaching a height of 13,363 feet (4,176 meters) and an orange flight warning color.
Yuyun Baharita, Chairperson of the General Election Commission (KPU) in Lumajang, mentioned that they sought assistance from BPBD Lumajang for polling stations located in disaster-prone areas due to the eruption.
"We have coordinated with BPBD Lumajang to request assistance in case of a Semeru eruption disaster during the voting process," she explained.
