Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The General Election Commission (KPU) has revealed that it received hundreds of millions of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks on its website.
"At least hundreds of millions of DoS attacks have targeted our website. I'm not talking about tens or dozens, but hundreds of millions of extraordinary attacks on the KPU website," KPU member Betty Epsilon Idroos said on Wednesday. (14/2/2024)
DoS attacks involve flooding network traffic on applications, servers, or websites. Typically, these attacks aim to overwhelm the server with heavy traffic, rendering it incapable of handling connections from other users, antaranews.com reported.
Betty highlighted that the KPU website contains crucial information and data related to the 2024 elections. Additionally, election results are available on the infopemilu.kpu.go.id domain.
"Almost all of KPU's websites have been targeted. The attacks on the kpu.go.id website have been particularly severe," she added.
Betty said that the situation has been being addressed by the KPU Cyber Security Task Force. After casting her vote in the morning, she immediately looked into the issue.
"Thankfully, today the kpu.go.id website has begun to recover. Hopefully, everything remains under control and can be fixed by the KPU," she said.
