Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The People Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman, Bambang Soesatyo, praised the Central Java Regional Police, the Diponegoro Military Command, and the Acting Governor of Central Java in securing the electoral process from campaigning to polling completion in the province
"The preparation of the military, police, and local administration is crucial not only in anticipating and addressing potential security disturbances but also in being vigilant against natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and others, which could occur before or even during polling day," he said on Thursday (15/2/2024).
There are seven highly vulnerable areas in Central Java, including Semarang, Sukoharjo, Purworejo, Temanggung, Wonosobo, Magelang Regency, and Kendal. In addition, there are 28 other areas categorized as moderately vulnerable.
Chairman Bambang urged security officers to anticipate any signs of provocation, warning possible unrest that may destabilize Indonesia.
The military, police, and local administration must continue to work together to maintain election security. In addition to unrest, the military and police must also anticipate the potential for terrorist attacks.
"The potential for terrorism in Indonesia remains significant, partly due to the continued influence of global terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda and ISIS," he explained.
