inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Special Staff to the Minister of National Development Planning, Sukmo Harsono, emphasized that the national internship program guarantees salaries in accordance with the Regional Minimum Wage (UMR). The salary is paid by the agency that recruits the interns.
According to him, this program is a means of opening up job opportunities for the younger generation.
"Their salaries are the responsibility of the recruiting agency," he said, as reported by the RRI website, Friday (10/10/2025).
In his statement, he said that this program is a form of government concern in absorbing the young workforce. For this reason, the government, through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, is supporting the implementation of this national internship.
"This internship is to prepare them to be absorbed by various companies. The government wants to improve the skills of interns in a practical way," he explained.
Internships are not limited to state-owned enterprises (BUMN), but are open to private and regional companies. He ensured that all participants must still receive salaries equivalent to the local UMR.
He said this program provides significant benefits for both participants and agencies. "They are recruited, so their salaries are adjusted to the regional UMR," he explained.
The government also gives priority to new graduates in this program. According to him, new workers have greater opportunities in the workforce.
"We're giving opportunities to new ones first so they have greater hope. This is an effort to balance the demand and supply of labor," he said.
